Welcome address from the Head of Department

Welcome to the Department of Engineering and Management at Munich University of Applied Sciences

“Engineering managers are the most in demand of all university graduates – both at the start of their careers and in the long term.” This positive summary from the Student Guide published by the weekly broadsheet Die Zeit in cooperation with the Centre for Higher Education Development (Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung – CHE) shows how very successful our graduates are. It is, above all, the interdisciplinary integration of technology and management that characterises our teaching and research.

With three bachelor’s and two master’s programmes, as well as an international doctoral programme, we are developing seminal fields at the biggest university of applied sciences in Bavaria. The department has more than 1,400 students and each year 500 young people join us to pursue their studies – supervised by 40 professors, 20 staff members, and 100 part-time lecturers from the business world.

The department has also set itself the goals of:

  • appealing to students and businesses and attracting staff as a result of excellent teaching,
  • establishing a strong reputation for engineering management by offering an extensive and innovative range of courses,
  • fostering close international links in training and research through partnerships with universities and companies,
  • using our world-leading knowledge to stimulate innovation in teaching, research, continuing education, and the application of findings.
